Samburu National Reserve is 90km north of Mt Kenya and about 360km North of Nairobi. It is situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, a Samburu name, meaning the "River of Brown water". This means plenty of water, trees and shade to attract wildlife.

Samburu Reserve would be incomplete without a visit to the hippo pools where large numbers of these enormous creatures wallow in the cooling muds of the River. Ewaso Nyiro River is favorite spot for prides of Lion to rest in the shade. There is also stunning birdlife. The Samburu complex is also home to Samburu herdsmen, who can be seen driving their herds through the dust, dressed in striking red blankets and carrying spears.

Day 1: Meeting point outside Steers opposite Jeevanjee Gardens at 0700hrs. A short briefing on the safari will follow with a prompt departure at 0710hrs before we proceed to the vast semi desert lands of Northern Kenya to arrive in time for lunch. The evening game drive will complete this full day and allow you to see and experience the wilds of Africa in its natural state. Dinner and overnight stay at Sarova Shaba Lodge. In the night you can hear a chorus of different animal sounds as they communicate with each other in the darkness – What better way to experience bush by night? (Lunch & Dinner)

Day 2: Pre-breakfast game drive before embarking for a sumptuous breakfast. After breakfast, check out and exit the park for Nairobi arriving late in the afternoon. Lunch on the way at own cost (Breakfast) ETA at Nairobi is 1730hrs
