Nakumatt is a Kenyan supermarket. Nakumatt was formerly known as Nakuru Mattress and was established in 1987. Nakumatt had 65 stores as of 2015 December and was present in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. It had over 5,000 workers and gross annual revenue in excess of US$450 million. Nakumatt was planning to launch more stores in countries where it was already present. the company ran out of funds and did not pay rents or wages in October 2017. It closed down 58 stores and was left with six stores as of August 2018 of which the six stores are in Kenya. The number of workers has reduced to less than 500.
